Is anyone sailing to Southport?
Many of us from Manly and Redland Bay will be travelling to Southport on the Wednesday the 4th or Thursday 5th October. If you wish to join the convoy or need a tow let us know and we will try and tee you up with a tow boat.
Thursday night, is there a function at Southport Yacht Club?
We will have a briefing at Souhtport Yacht Club on Thursday evening at 5pm for those able to attend (this is not compulsary) we will post a FACEBOOK live briefing for those who cant attend.
Will there be a briefing on Friday morning?
Will there be any berths available at the club on Thursday night?
Yes, we have been allocated on beach parking (in front of the bar) for trailable boats. Larger support vessels will need to make their own arrangements with SYC or anchor off for Thurs night.
Will there be car and trailer location availability at finish point?
Yes, if you are launching at Southport, you need to drive to the finish (Redland Bay) on Thursday afternoon, we will organise a maxi taxi to pick up drivers and return them to SYC. Departure time from Redland Bay is 3pm.
Will there be transport provided back to Southport Yacht Club from dropping car/trailer drop off?
Yes, as above.
What accommodation is available?
Both Friday and Saturday crews will be either camping ashore, or staying on their vessel at anchor.
Friday night we will be staying at Dux – Southport Yacht Clubs annex on South Stradbroke Island. There is a lawn for camping, hot showers, fire pit, BBQ’s, library / lounge. Option to either stay aboard or camp on the lawn. Camping or sleeping aboard are the only options, there is no other accommodation available in the area.
Saturday we will be using the facilities of RQYS Canaipa. There is a lawn for camping/swags, hot showers, fire pit, swimming pool, BBQ’s, laundry. Option to either stay aboard or camp on the lawn. Camping or sleeping aboard are the only options, there is no other accommodation available at Canaipa.
Whats the deal with food / catering.
We will have breakfasts, lunches and dinners catered for. There will be an entry cost per boat which will include catering for the skipper and a Per Person cost for Crew.

- Our support boats will be stocked with cold water etc for handing out.
Will there be function on Sunday night?
We plan on finishing early afternoon at Pelican Slipways, there is a boat ramp, lawn and cafe and we will have our lunch there. Pelican Slipways have kindly allowed us to use their pontoons for rafting up. Some crews may want to overnight and pull boats out on Monday, that is an option. Support boats can anchor off and come in by tender for lunch.
